Iosif Krachkovsky was a Russian painter known for his genre scenes and landscapes. He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under Ivan Kramskoi and later traveled extensively throughout Europe, studying the works of the Old Masters. He was a member of the Peredvizhniki, a group of Russian realist painters who rejected the academic tradition and sought to depict everyday life and social issues in their art.
