Alan Davie was a Scottish painter and musician born on September 28, 1920, in Grangemouth, Scotland. He is known for his abstract, colourful paintings, which often incorporate symbols and motifs from various cultures and traditions. Davie's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1972. Some of his most famous works include "The Island of the Day Before," "Symbolic Garden," and "Lion of Judah." Davie died on April 5, 2014, in Hertfordshire, England.
