Boris Shaposhnikov

Boris Shaposhnikov was a Russian and Soviet painter born on August 17, 1927, in Moscow. He graduated from the Surikov Moscow Art Institute in 1953, where he studied under Pyotr Sokolov and Alexander Osmyorkin. Shaposhnikov was known for his works depicting the everyday life of Soviet people, often featuring children and workers. He painted in a realist style, but also experimented with other styles, including impressionism. Shaposhnikov's works were widely exhibited throughout the Soviet Union, and he received numerous awards for his art, including the State Prize of the USSR in 1972. He was also a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In addition to painting, Shaposhnikov taught at the Moscow Art Institute and served as a member of the board of the Union of Artists. Boris Shaposhnikov died on April 2, 2002, in Moscow at the age of 74.
