Mikhail Tkachenko was a Russian painter known for his landscape and genre paintings. He was born in the village of Paseka in the Tula region of Russia. Tkachenko studied art at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he was a student of Vasily Perov and Alexei Savrasov. He later became a member of the Peredvizhniki (Wanderers) movement, a group of Russian realist artists who sought to depict the realities of life in Russia. Tkachenko's paintings often portrayed the beauty of the Russian countryside and the simple life of its inhabitants.
