A Russian painter, graphic artist, and art teacher, Lev Tchistovsky was a prominent figure of the Moscow School of Painting. He was particularly known for his still life paintings and portraits. He also worked as a book illustrator, creating illustrations for many classic works of Russian literature. Tchistovsky was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1951 and was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1967.
