Oscar Rabin
1928-2018Biography
Oscar Rabin was a Soviet and Russian painter of Jewish descent. He was a prominent member of the Lianozovo Group, a circle of non-conformist artists in Moscow in the 1960s. Rabin's early works were inspired by the social realism of the Soviet era, but he later became more interested in abstraction and expressionism. He was an outspoken critic of Soviet authorities and was eventually forced to emigrate to France in 1978, where he continued to paint and exhibit his work.
