Anatoly Treskin
1905-1986Biography
Anatoly Treskin was a Soviet and Russian painter and graphic artist known for his works in the style of socialist realism. He was born on September 11, 1905, in the city of Kungur, Russia. In 1923, he moved to Moscow and began his art education at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. After graduation, he worked as a book illustrator and designer, as well as a poster artist. In the 1930s, Treskin began to paint large-scale canvases on historical and patriotic themes. He also created works on the subject of labor and industry, portraying workers in a positive light. During World War II, Treskin worked as a war artist, documenting the heroism of the Soviet people in their fight against the Nazis. In the post-war years, he continued to work as a painter and also taught at the Moscow State Surikov Art Institute. Treskin's works can be found in many museums and private collections in Russia and abroad. He was awarded several prizes and honors during his career, including the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1969. He died on May 28, 1986, in Moscow.
