Nikolai Sinezouboff was a Russian-American artist best known for his works in watercolour, gouache, and oil. He was born in Moscow, Russia and studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1918, he emigrated to the United States and settled in New York City. Sinezouboff worked as a freelance illustrator, creating illustrations for magazines and advertisements, while also pursuing his own art. His works were exhibited at various galleries and he was awarded numerous prizes for his art. Sinezouboff's art often features landscapes, still lifes, and figures, all rendered in a distinct style characterized by bold colours and graphic shapes. He is also known for his use of strong light and shadow, which adds drama and depth to his compositions.Throughout his career, Sinezouboff continued to create art in various media and styles, including abstract works later in life. His art can be found in private collections and museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
