Sybil Andrews

Sybil Andrews was a British-Canadian artist born on April 19, 1898, in Bury St Edmunds, England. She studied at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London before moving to Canada in 1947. Andrews is best known for her linocut prints, which often depict subjects such as sports, industry, and urban life. Her prints are characterized by bold lines and dynamic compositions. Some of her most famous works include "Speedway," "The Flare Path," and "Cyclists." Andrews' work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and she was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 1976. She died on December 21, 1992, in Campbell River, British Columbia.
