Kenneth Armitage was a British sculptor born on July 18, 1916, in Leeds, England. He studied at the Leeds School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art in London. Armitage's work is known for its abstract, organic forms that often depict the human figure. Some of his most famous sculptures include "Family Group," "The Harlow Family Group," and "Seated Woman." Armitage's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1969. He died on January 22, 2002, in London.
