Vasily Polenov was a Russian artist known for his landscape paintings. He was born in St. Petersburg and studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. Polenov traveled extensively throughout Russia and Europe, and his paintings often depict the landscapes of these regions. He was also involved in the restoration of historic churches and was a founding member of the Society for the Restoration of Ancient Monuments in Russia.
