Isaac Levitan was a Russian landscape painter who is widely regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 19th century. He was born in Kibarty, Lithuania and spent his childhood in poverty. However, his artistic talent was recognized early on, and he was able to attend the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
